Sustainability is so important to us at Green Electrical Solutions, and to help promote these values, we gave away a free turnkey solar PV system!
Our winner, Paige Hutchinson is sharing her experience with us. From the day she learned she was the winner, to the day those panels were installed on her roof. She also expresses how important sustainability is to her and her family!
Tell us how you felt when you learned you won the free PV solar system?
The last thing I can remember winning was a Monarch Ski Area lift ticket at a Warren Miller Film when I was in college. When I got the message that I won the contest I was shocked, and then panicked because our home is 40 years old an needed a new roof!
We knew when we were going to replace our aging roof we wanted solar. Having an older house with base board heating and electric appliances, we figured we were perfect candidates for solar, plus we have lots of sun.
My family moved to Aspen in 1975 and owned a ski lodge on Main Street. My husband, Hutch came to ski in the mid 80’s and stayed. He was an Alaska fly fishing guide in the summer and worked on the mountain in the winter. We realize so much of our work and lifestyle is dependent on climate.
Teaching him to appreciate all the aspects of living where we do and to not take it for granted is important. As a family we cherish the outdoors fishing, skiing, camping, hunting, biking!

The process with the solar panels was super straight forward. The paperwork with Holy Cross was well explained by their staff. I was able to easily get the plot map from Eagle County with one phone call. Jay was so helpful in answering questions at each step. As soon as the roofers had the new roof installed, Nick was able to get everything up in 2 days! It’s so exciting to look up and see that we are generating power from the sun. It’s such a good lesson for our son as well.
The Hutchinson family is officially hooked up and ready to rock!
It was a rewarding process for us at Green Electrical, and we look forward to following up with this family to see how they are enjoying this new transition to Solar.
Are you considering going solar?
